A Vaccination Against Sexual Misconduct: From Ravi to Celebrity Pastors, No One is Immune (for ministry leaders)

The recent revelations of Ravi Zacharias’s sexual abuse has sent shock waves through the church and impacted many ministry leaders. Most ministry leaders have responded with shock and horror while others have quietly stated, “There but for the grace of God go I.” Some have asked: “How could such a thing happen?” Some have thought, “Could this happen to me?”

Sexual temptation is common and a real threat to the heart of your church ministry, marriage, and family. You see, it is not if, but when you will face temptation! Sexual misconduct is one of the primary reasons ministry leaders experience ministry failure and are sued, and you need to prepare now to know how to respond.

On March 11th from 10am-12pm, ServingLeaders will host a virtual workshop on Zoom called “A Vaccination Against Sexual Misconduct.” This workshop is specifically designed to equip ministry leaders to know how to protect their own hearts, ministries, families, and congregants.

We will address the questions:

  • What are my specific vulnerabilities to temptation?

  • How do I handle it when I am sexually/romantically attracted to a congregant, counselee, or other person?

  • How do I handle it when my congregant, counselee, etc. is sexually/romantically attracted to me?

We will also discuss the factors that contribute to organizational systems that allow moral failures to occur behind-the-scenes.

Studies have demonstrated that attending a workshop like this significantly lowers the risk of engaging in sexual misconduct. There is an inverse relationship between the incidence of sexual misconduct and exposure to the material I will present in our time together.
