Ministry Leader Gathering (West Chester): Healing from Our Past and the Wounds that Drive Us

How do you heal and find freedom from the wounds and past experiences that haunt you, elicit shame, or have painfully impacted who you are today?

All of us have painful experiences in our past that drive us today, hindering our effectiveness, and sabotaging our lives and ministries.  Many Christians avoid examining their past and live in denial, thinking that forgetting the past is the way to move forward.

The truth is, we must go back to go forward; we must attend to our painful wounds to heal. In God’s providence, he redeems and uses our wounds to draw us into deeper intimacy with Him and give us a platform for ministry we could not have had otherwise.

In this interactive workshop, we will have the opportunity to redemptively revisit our past experiences in order to grow closer to Christ, experience more effective ministry, and find freedom from self-sabotage.

Please Register Here

This event is free, and lunch is included.

Ministry Leader Gatherings are focused on the needs of those who serve in ministry leadership, but these events are open to all, including lay ministry leaders, elders, para-church staff, and others in leadership positions outside of ministry. Walk-ins are welcome as space allows, but please register early to reserve your spot (and your lunch)!

A one-woman theatrical presentation of the journey of a young artist caught in a world of sex, drugs and violence.

* * * * * * * * *

The journey of a young artist caught in a world of drugs and violence is told with humor and pathos, interweaving music and storytelling and ultimately bringing the audience together in a celebration of faith and redemption.

Miho Kahn’s life, like most of ours, has its ups and downs, but hers takes twists and turns to the extreme. With her compass spinning wildly, her roller coaster of experience is a parent’s worst nightmare, leading her into deadly situations and violent outcomes.

Clean Sheets is the telling of this story. Brutally honest and beautifully told, it is a story of pain and beauty, faith and redemption, life and loss.

Addresses mature subject matter. Not suitable for most children under 12.

Evangelical Congregationalist Pastor's Conference: Mindful Leadership

The theme for this year ’s National Conference Celebration is Mindful Leadership. You may ask, “What does mindful leadership have to do with becoming a dynamic movement of God?” A dynamic movement of God built on healthy, disciple-making churches requires healthy, mindful leaders! Church leaders must be mindful, that is they must be intentionally aware of how their physical, spiritual and emotional health impacts their ability to lead.

During our plenary Equipping Experience on Thursday afternoon, Dave Wiedis, founder of ServingLeaders and author of The Spiritually Healthy Leader: Finding Freedom From Self-Sabotage, will help us explore how to be mindful leaders.

With the impending election cycle amplifying a politically divided nation, worldwide turmoil around issues of warfare and justice, and the struggle for many ministries to respond to a culturally polarized landscape, 2024 is shaping up to be a year full of challenges for ministry leaders. How can we avoid the burnout (physical and emotional exhaustion) and flameout (moral failure) that are all too often the result of seasons of challenge and stress for ministry leaders?

Ministry Leader Gathering (Princeton): Cultivating Relational Depth & Navigating Conflict

  • Princeton University Cottage Club (map)

Conflict is one of the top sources of discouragement and burnout for pastors and ministry leaders. We live in a culture where conflict is ubiquitous. Some in our society have modeled an “us-vs-them” mode of interaction that has normalized ad hominem argument and an inability to listen to those with whom we disagree. Many don’t know how to have a respectful conversation.

You have probably noticed that this inability to deal with conflict in a healthy, mature manner has invaded many of our churches. How can we build emotionally healthy relationships and navigate conflict well amid this unacceptable, ungodly polarization? What are some tools we can use to help disciple people?
