On November 3rd & 4th, Providence Presbyterian Church will be hosting two conferences addressing the issue of abuse toward children and women.

Friday evening's conference is open to everyone -- men and women -- who are interested in protecting our children from abuse. Carolyn Byers Ruch, child advocate, founder of Rise and Shine Movement, and mother of seven will share what she's learned from nearly thirty years of parenting and over a decade of child abuse prevention training. As Carolyn says, "Abuse is never a child's fault. Prevention is always an adult responsibility."

Then on Saturday we will hold a women's conference with keynote speaker, Dr. Penny Freeman, LPC, who has over 30 years of counseling experience, specializing in sexual abuse, trauma, grief, chronic illness and marriage counseling. Dr. Freeman will explore the journey of recovery from abuse, and the importance of self-care.

Friday evening's session is free. The cost for Saturday's session is $15.00 and includes breakfast, lunch and materials. Scholarships are available, as is childcare upon request.
