One of the ways ServingLeaders comes alongside church leaders and congregations is by helping them navigate emotionally charged, "hot button" issues that can be divisive and fraught with misunderstanding. Gender, sexuality, and homosexuality certainly elicit strong reactions in people both inside and outside the church.

Weaverland Mennonite Church is hosting a week-long series called "Seeing People as People," and I have been invited to make a presentation entitled "God's Plan for Gender and Sexuality, and Our Compassionate Engagement." I'll be addressing these challenging topics - - including the etiology of same-sex attraction -- from a biblical and social science perspective next Thursday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m.
