Susan Payne, M.S.C.C. received her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Cairn University and a Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from Gallaudet University. As the wife of a pastor over the last twenty years, Susan has extensive experience and a unique perspective in counseling ministry leaders and their families.
Susan is interested in working with people experiencing depression, anxiety, burn-out, grief and loss, and major life transitions. She is gifted in spiritual formation and loves working with adolescents and young adults. Her cognitive-behavioral therapy and solutions-focused approach target changing unhealthy patterns of thinking and behavior. Her blend of compassion, humor, and honesty creates an effective therapeutic relationship.
Susan also has a wide range of experience in group work and believes in the healing and transformative power of community. She and her husband Brett lead enneagram seminars, spiritual formation seminars and retreats, including Deeper Journey, a two-year-long, eight-retreat experience focused on spiritual formation and soul care. Susan has also worked as an adjunct professor for Lab (an intensive small group counselor training class) in the Counseling Department at Cairn University.
Susan and her husband, Brett, live in Downingtown. Brett does sabbatical coaching and soul care through CrossPoint Ministry. Their son is a student at the University of North Carolina. Susan enjoys classic literature, yoga, and getting lost in the beauty of nature.
