Sarah Ensslen, LPC, received a master’s degree in Christian Counseling from Cairn University where she currently works as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling and Psychology. At the university, Sarah currently teaches Helping Skills, Individual Assessment & Psychopathology, Grief & Trauma, Group Discipleship and Sport Psychology.
Sarah has primarily focused on treating individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. She is also passionate about trauma treatment, and has a heart for individuals who have experienced ethnic and race-based traumatic stress.
Before joining the Serving Leaders team, Sarah worked for six years (2010-2016) in Cairn University’s college and community counseling center primarily with young adults and adults struggling with a wide variety mental health issues: anxiety, depression, panic disorder, dissociative disorder, sexual addiction, trauma, grief, etc.
She is deeply passionate about being an active member of the body of Christ and so has also been very involved in her church, Seven Mile Road Church in Northeast Philadelphia. Due to her passion for biblical community, Sarah has led trainings on vulnerability for small group leaders, led small groups, participated in discussions on diversity and taught the Word at women’s mini-retreats.
When Sarah isn’t counseling, teaching or engaging in ministry she enjoys backpacking, mountain biking, playing sports, spending time with friends and reading. She is also currently pursuing a Master’s of Divinity at Cairn University.
