Year in Review: Celebrating God’s Faithfulness
2018-2019 Ministry Year
Thank you to everyone who has partnered with us in giving and prayer. Because of God’s grace, provision and your generosity, this past year has been one of great impact for ServingLeaders. If you would like to make a gift, please visit our giving page.
ServingLeaders Opens Ministry Year with Full “Created for Connection” Marriage Workshop
Dave Wiedis partnered with Bob Fair, LPC and a team of ServingLeaders’ counselors to lead workshops in September and April for 55 couples. Created for Connection helps couples create emotional connection in their relationships. One participant said: “We broke through some very hard places, and I saw things in a totally new way....I see now that we have so much more to learn and with so much more hope!”
ServingLeaders’ 10th Anniversary Celebration
Ministry friends gathered to celebrate 10 years of God’s faithfulness to ServingLeaders. We heard powerful testimonies and shared our “Mission Hub” Multiplication Initiative, a plan to develop our Willow Grove Counseling Office into a full Mission Hub. In just eight months, we have already reached 75% of our $484,000 funding goal, which includes our $173,000 goal in new gifts for growth beyond our current commitments. Pictured: Dr. Penny Freeman. ServingLeaders Hosts Ministry Leader Gatherings in Princeton, NJ, West Chester, PA and Macungie, PA
In the 2018-2019 ministry year we hosted 10 Ministry Leader Gatherings throughout the region, including our newest location, The Cottage Club in Princeton, NJ (pictured). Ministry Leader Gatherings connect, encourage and equip ministry leaders. Often these gatherings are a first introduction to our services, providing a launching point for ministry leaders to realize their need and connect with us.
ServingLeaders Trains Pastors and Seminary Students in India
Dave and his wife, Miho, traveled to India for the second time to teach seminary students and pastors at Life Theological Seminary in Odessa, where the church is suffering severe persecution. Dave’s course, “The Life and Heart of the Pastor,” spanned five days and covered shepherding, theology, personal health in ministry, and sexuality. Female seminarians shared stories of oppression, rape and exclusion, and their countenances lifted as we taught them that God’s love is unconditional and they are not defiled. They felt encouraged to share these truths in their home communities.
Dave Wiedis Gives Two-Part Seminar for West Chester Cru Staff and Students on Handling Anxiety
This past ministry year, ServingLeaders’ team members led about 50 seminars, sermons and workshops for churches and parachurch organizations. Our approach is uniquely focused on helping people engage biblical truth in every aspect of physical, mental and emotional wellness. In this seminar series, Dave explained the root causes of anxiety and provided practical ways to apply scripture to anxious thoughts and experience new freedom in Christ.
ServingLeaders Expands Services to Include Wellness and Mediation Therapy
ServingLeaders welcomed on staff Laura Nagy, nationally certified Wellness Coach, Registered Dietitian and Certified Personal Trainer. We are now able to provide care for the whole person. We have also been engaged to provide mediation services to churches that have significant conflict on staff. We call this “Mediation Therapy,” a process to help address the underlying relational issues, restore broken relationships and train the staff with relational skills to create a healthy team culture that handles future conflicts more effectively.
ServingLeaders Counsels and Coaches Missionaries in Lebanon
Dave and Miho were invited to Beruit by a team of ministry leaders and missionaries to lead a retreat, provide an intensive marriage workshop, lead a seminar on self-care and avoiding burnout, provide individual and couples’ counseling and perform Miho’s Clean Sheets, a one-woman show depicting God’s redemption following her dark experiences as a teen. International ministry is a key component of our work. Each trip gives us the opportunity to address the unique needs of ministry leaders, empower them to be more effective, and hone our understanding of what they need in order to thrive.
ServingLeaders Launches “SL Counseling”
We are now pleased to offer comprehensive counseling services to those who are not in formal ministry—under the name SL Counseling. Over the last twelve years, many ministry leaders have desired to refer their congregants to us for counseling. SL Counseling serves as a resource for churches, individuals and families across the region and provides additional revenue to support our primary mission: To revive, restore and resource ministry leaders and their families. As we look ahead to the future, we plan to multiply our services through our Mission Hub Campaign.
