Helen Schmidheiser

Helen Schmidheiser, LPC graduated from Penn State and received her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Eastern University. Before joining the ServingLeaders team, Helen provided attachment-focused and trauma-informed clinical services to children and families in her role as an outpatient clinician at Bethanna, a Christian social services agency in Southampton, Pa. Helen also worked as a clinician at Chelten Church in Dresher, Pa., providing spiritually relevant emotional, relational, and psychological supportive services to individuals and families in both the church and local community. 

As a breast cancer survivor, Helen has a deep passion for walking alongside women in seasons of change, loss, and unexpected outcomes.

Helen’s areas of specialty include: play therapy for children experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges; person-centered, attachment-focused, and trauma-informed perspectives for teens and adults who have experienced sexual abuse, grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, and chronic illness; and support for women experiencing life transitions and loss associated with infertility, miscarriage, an abortion decision, or disease.

Helen and her husband, Lou, reside in Bucks County, Pa. and have been married for 41 years. They are the proud parents of three married daughters and the grandparents of four grandsons and six granddaughters, ranging in age from six months to 11 years.

Helen and Lou have attended Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia since 1994. They have been involved in the Married Couples Fellowship for more than 13 years and are part of a prayer ministry and support group specifically for grandparents.
